Farmers Market Radishes

How rad are these colorful root veggies we found from Cure Organic Farm at the Boulder County Winter Market in Longmont, Colorado?!

Radishes are a part of the same veggie family as Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and turnips.

It is believed radishes originated in Southeast Asia and their name comes from the Latin word “radix,” meaning root.

Radishes have a strong flavor that is caused by the oils in them, which are also present in mustard, wasabi, and horseradish.

Every year on December 23 in Oaxaca, Mexico, is Noche de Rábanos, or Night of the Radishes, where large radishes are carved into sculptures! (You should totally look it up).
